The work Orbital Mechanics is oriented in form and content to an astronomical position measuring device called the armillary sphere. This instrument is also known as the spherical astrolabe, the armilla, or the armil, and serves to illustrate the movement of celestial bodies. The individual components of the installation consist of height-adjustable tripods and several casted objects with different material and surface properties, which can be placed in the designated holders. Through this modular system, the installation work can be presented in various constellations, based on specific spatial dimensions, and is therefore able to be adapted according to the architectural characteristics of the exhibition space.
